As we dive into the 2025 season, let's take a moment to reflect on the Atlanta Braves' history and the impact of key players like Tim Hudson. His recent contract extension is a reminder of how crucial stability is for a franchise. But it also raises some interesting questions about the future of the Braves and their current roster.

With spring training underway, we’ve seen some promising performances from pitchers like Ian Anderson and Grant Holmes. Are they the future of the Braves' rotation, or do you think the team should look elsewhere for pitching depth?

Austin Riley is feeling confident this year, but can he maintain that momentum throughout the season? What are your bold predictions for his performance?

And let’s not forget about Bryce Elder. His up-and-down starts have fans divided. Is he a liability or just a young pitcher finding his way?

As we gear up for Opening Day, what are your thoughts on the Braves' lineup? Which position player do you think will disappoint the most this year?

Let’s hear your insights, predictions, and any personal experiences you have with the Braves! What are you most excited about this season?

the spring training discussions about the Braves' pitching staff were definitely a hot topic!

Regarding Ian Anderson and Grant Holmes, their stellar outings against the Marlins were certainly encouraging signs for the Braves' pitching depth. However, in the context of spring training, those performances, while positive, likely didn't automatically guarantee them solidified spots in the rotation for the entire season. The Braves' front office and coaching staff were likely evaluating a multitude of factors, including consistency over multiple outings, health, and how they fit into the overall strategy for the year, especially with Spencer Strider's injury creating an early need for rotation depth. Ultimately, as the season began, both Anderson (traded to the Angels for José Suarez) and Holmes did find themselves in the Braves' plans, highlighting the team's need for viable starting options.

Austin Riley's confidence heading into the season was a great sign for the Braves' offense. My bold prediction for Riley was that he would have a fantastic year, potentially even reaching the 40-home run mark and being a strong contender for the NL MVP award. His consistent power and offensive production are crucial for the Braves' success.

Bryce Elder presented a more complex picture. His performances have indeed been inconsistent, leading to the divided opinions among fans. I see him as a young pitcher still in the process of finding his footing in the major leagues. He's shown flashes of being a very capable starter, even earning an All-Star nod in 2023, but he's also had outings where he's struggled with consistency and command. It's likely a case of a young pitcher learning and developing at the highest level, and the Braves were probably hoping he could find more stability in his performances throughout the 2025 season.

Looking back at the Braves' lineup heading into Opening Day, predicting which position player might disappoint is always a risky endeavor. However, if I had to pinpoint a potential area of concern based on expectations and past performance, I might have looked at the right field situation with the platoon of Bryan De La Cruz and Jarred Kelenic (before Acuña's return). If either player struggled to seize the opportunity and provide consistent offensive production, particularly against their platoon disadvantage, it could have been viewed as a disappointment relative to the potential many see in that spot.

What I was most excited about heading into the 2025 season was seeing how the young pitching talent would develop and contribute, and how the offense, with its established stars, would perform over a full season. The potential for a deep playoff run was definitely there, contingent on both hitting and pitching clicking at the right time.
