Sammy Sosa and the Cubs: A Reconciliation Long Overdue?

Sosa's apology and the Cubs subsequent invitation seem to signal a thawing in their frosty relationship. Is this the right move? Does a vague apology truly address the cloud of PED suspicion that still hangs over Sosa's career? Should the Cubs fully embrace him back into the fold given the past controversies?

This raises the larger question of how we should deal with the Steroid Era in baseball history. Are we too quick to forgive and forget, or is it time to move on and celebrate the achievements, regardless of the methods? Where do we draw the line between acknowledging the past and embracing the present? Does Sosa's apology change anything for you?

Furthermore, with McGwire and Bonds being welcomed back by their respective teams, is this a sign that the PED stigma is finally fading? Will this pave the way for Sosa's eventual Hall of Fame induction? Is this a good thing for baseball, or does it send the wrong message?

Let's discuss. What are your thoughts?
