Braves Fans, Let’s Talk Lineup Construction! Acuña’s return throws a wrench into the works, doesn’t it? How much should we REALLY be banking on his early-season production given the double knee surgeries? Is it crazy to think he might need another year to truly find his MVP form again?
This potential lineup with Acuña: Acuña, Harris II, Riley, Ozuna, Olson, Albies, Murphy, Kelenic, Arcia. Does that scream World Series or does it scream some serious holes? I’m particularly looking at that outfield situation. Kelenic/De La Cruz platoon for four months? Are we comfortable with that?
Let’s say, hypothetically, Acuña IS 100% by June. Does that make strengthening the outfield less of a priority, allowing AA to focus on pitching? Or is adding another outfielder crucial regardless of Acuña’s health, providing depth and insurance?
What about shuffling the lineup itself? Riley in the two-hole seems locked, but where does everyone else fit? Does Ozuna deserve a top-three spot? Olson batting fifth? Is that maximizing our potential?
I’m throwing this out there: Trading a top prospect for a proven outfielder might be the BOLD move we need to make this winter. It might sting initially, but could pay off BIG time. Are we at a point where we prioritize immediate wins over long-term potential?
Let’s hear your thoughts Braves fans. What moves do YOU think AA should make?
