Have you ever experienced the thrill of a card show? It seems like the landscape of these events is constantly evolving, and I recently had a fascinating experience that got me thinking about the future of card collecting.

I attended a local card show that has grown significantly over the years, moving to a new venue and expanding its offerings. However, I noticed a trend that many collectors might find concerning: the decline of dime boxes. Once a staple for budget-friendly collectors, these boxes are becoming increasingly rare, replaced by higher-priced value boxes. This raises some interesting questions:

Is the joy of the hunt being lost as prices rise? Are we moving towards a more elitist collecting culture where only those willing to spend big can enjoy the thrill of finding a gem?

On a personal note, I had a great find—a 2023 Topps Cosmic Chrome Autograph Variation Card of Christian Yelich, numbered to just 50. It’s a stunning card that perfectly matches his team colors. But I can’t help but wonder, does the excitement of finding such a card in a dime box outweigh the satisfaction of purchasing a high-value card?

I’d love to hear your thoughts! What has your experience been with card shows lately? Have you noticed a shift in the types of cards available? Do you think the future of card collecting is in jeopardy with the decline of affordable options? Let’s discuss!
