Is a Vlad Guerrero Jr. Trade Realistic if Mets Can't Extend Pete Alonso?

The Mets standoff with Pete Alonso has me wondering… are we witnessing the end of an era in Queens? With Cohen backing Stearns and whispers of pursuing Vlad Guerrero Jr., it feels like a seismic shift could be on the horizon. Is this the right move? Could Guerrero realistically fill Alonso’s shoes in Flushing, or are we looking at a downgrade? What kind of return could the Mets realistically expect for a player of Alonso’s caliber, and would it be enough to build a sustainable contender? I’m throwing this out there: trading Alonso would be a colossal mistake. He’s the heart and soul of this team, and the kind of power hitter you build a franchise around. Am I alone in thinking this? Let’s hear your take. What would YOU do if you were Stearns?
