Bregman to the Mets? Intriguing… but does it actually make sense?
With the Soto signing, Cohen has shown he’s willing to spend big. But is Bregman the right piece? His offensive numbers have dipped, and while the Gold Glove is nice, is he worth potentially outbidding the Astros by a significant margin?
Let’s say Alonso does leave, and the Mets shift Vientos to first. Does that create enough of a hole at third to justify pursuing Bregman? Is Baty truly on the trading block, or is that just posturing?
I’m not convinced Bregman moves the needle enough for the Mets. They need pitching, and spending this much on a third baseman when other needs exist seems… questionable. What do you all think? Is Bregman a good fit in Queens? Or should Cohen and the front office be focusing their resources elsewhere?
Let’s discuss.
